VPS deals reader question

How to read a VPS checkout's upfront total and display rate

Answer: a display rate such as “/month” is not enough to identify the recurring VPS charge. Confirm four separate facts in the provider's wording: the amount charged now, the payment term covered by that amount, the promotional duration, and the later recurring or renewal amount. If the last amount is absent, record it as unknown.

Four fields to record from a VPS checkout

Start with the amount charged now

Write the checkout's upfront total exactly as shown, including currency, taxes or fees when the page exposes them, and the plan name. A monthly display rate may be a division of a longer prepaid term. Do not turn that division into a monthly billing claim.

Separate the term and promotion

Record the payment period beside the upfront total: monthly, annual, or another stated term. Then record how long the promotion lasts. IONOS's public VPS page currently exposes five VPS+ cards priced for “3 months” with a “1-year term”; those labels describe the promotion window and term, while the collected public fields do not expose a verified post-promotion amount.

Hostinger's public VPS page exposes monthly display prices and renewal wording for its plans, while also stating that plans are paid upfront. That makes the displayed monthly figure a comparison unit until the provider's exact checkout total and renewal sentence are checked.

Use this checkout evidence note

  1. Plan and currency: copy the exact names.
  2. Display rate: record the number and its “/month” or other unit.
  3. Upfront total and payment term: record what is charged now and what period it covers.
  4. Promotion and recurring term: record the promotion length and explicit renewal amount; write “unknown” when the page does not publish it.

What today's official collection supports

This collection checked Hostinger's VPS page and IONOS's cheap VPS page at 2026-10-21T11:27:34Z. It recorded four Hostinger offers and five IONOS offers. The offer records preserve each source URL and fetched_at timestamp; they do not add a recurring amount that the source did not publish.

Decision rule: compare upfront totals over the same ownership horizon. Keep display rate, payment term, promotion duration, and recurring amount as separate fields until the provider connects them in explicit wording.
